The Lake Maitland Advertiser, judging from the partial front page and one article in which the paper is referred to as "The Advertiser.". However, there is no existing evidence of a newspaper called The Lake Maitland Advertiser ever being published. In fact, there is no evidence of a local newspaper existing in Maitland other than The Maitland Courier in the 1800s. However, from the partial front page, it is evident that the name of the paper does begin with "Lake Maitland," and from the articles and advertisements it is clearly a Maitland newspaper. The Maitland Courier was established in 1885 by C. F. Townsend, its editor and publisher. The newspaper was published every Thursday and it's estimated circulation between 1886 and 1887 was 559 to an area of residents with an estimated population of 1,300 by 1887.
