The newspaper was published every Thursday and it's estimated circulation between 1886 and 1887 was 559 to an area of residents with an estimated population of 1,300 by 1887. This edition features a special piece titled "An Historical Sketch of Maitland," written by R. G. Grassfield, which details various aspects of Central Florida history, including Chief Osceola and the Seminole Indian Wars, Fort Maitland, steamship travel, the founding of Sanford, some of the first settlers in Maitland around 1870, railroad expansion, the importance of agricultural products, Maitland as a winter resort town, the estates of Dommerich and Vanderpool, the area's lakes, the Hungerford Industrial School of Eatonville, as well as details of contemporary Maitland and prospects for the future.
