Andrew Aulin, Sr. (1843-1918), the Swedish immigrant credited with naming Oviedo, was appointed the town's first postmaster in 1879. Ormund Powers, the author of the article, also explains that McIntosh was named in honor of Colonel John C. McIntosh, who was scalped by Native Americans. According to the article, St. Cloud was named for a suburb of Paris, France, and served as a "semi official residence" for veterans of the Union Army.
