The Orlando Naval Training Center (NTC) was commissioned on July 1, 1968 and built on land formerly used for the Orlando Air Base, which was decommissioned in 1946. Construction for the second camp began in 1969 and was scheduled to be completed by mid-1973, the year in which Orlando became the only site of recruit training for enlisted women. The NTC closed on March 31, 1995.]]>
