The earliest known residents of Suites 501 were two African Americans: W. M. Walker in 1911 and Rachel Tayes in 1924. In 1926, Caldwell Furniture Company Inc. was listed at this address. Two grocers ran their grocery stores from this location: James A. Williams in 1947 and William H. Harrell in 1952. Sanford Ave. Pool Room was located at this address from approximately 1965 to 1975.
