Title Veterans Legacy Program Collection Alternative Title VLP Collection Subject Veterans--Florida Description In 2017, the University of Central Florida was one of three universities selected to launch the National Cemetery Administration’s <a href="https://vlp.cah.ucf.edu/">Veterans Legacy Program Project</a>. The program engaged a team of scholars to make the life stories of veterans buried in the Florida National Cemetery available to the public. The project engages UCF students in research and writing and fosters collaboration between students, faculty and local Central Florida schools to produce interactive curriculum for k-12 students. The corresponding website exhibit uses RICHES Mosaic Interface to create a digital archive of related data. The public can use the project-developed augmented-reality app at more than 100 gravesites at the Florida National Cemetery, where they can access the UCF student-authored biographies of veterans. Title Thirteenth Census Population for Springdale, Lincoln County, South Dakota, 1910 Alternative Title Census, 1910 Subject Census--United States Population--United States Description The Thirteenth United States Census records for Springdale, Lincoln County, South Dakota, for 1910. The census divides the population by sex, race, age, marital status, number of children, occupation, literacy, whether they owned or rented, farm or house, if they were a Civil War veteran, whether they were blind, deaf or dumb, the place of birth and mother tongue of foreign-born persons and their parents. If foreign born, the person was required to provide the year they immigrated, whether they were naturalized and if they were able to speak English.<br /><br /> A notable resident listed in this record is Earl Henry Patterson (1898-1971). Born in Van Buren, Indiana, on February 6, 1898, Patterson served as a Boatswain's Mate in the United States Coast Guard during World War I. After the war, he moved to Washington D.C., and married Clarice Wampler. Patterson served with the Coast Guard again during World War II. In 1970, the Pattersons moved to Florida to retire.
