A fireless cooker and Lee Family heirloom in 2003. As of November 2013, the cooker was in the possession of Luticia "Tish" Gormley Lee, who planned to will it to her daughter, Linda Lee Mallaskaski. The fireless cooker was originally owned by Lee's aunt, Mardy Lee, who arrived in Sanford, Florida, in 1910. Mardy would cook stones with a wood stove and then put the stones in the fireless cooker. She would then heat food in the pans and leave it in the fireless cooker overnight so that it would be ready to serve after church on Sundays. Fireless cookers are also known as hay boxes, straw boxes, insulation cookers, wonder ovens, and retained-heat cookers.
