Croom’s Academy For Negro Pupils Has 8 Classrooms
Croom’s Academy, the new negro school building at Goldsboro is one of the best buildings of its type in the state according to Elton J. Moughton, architect who designed the building.
“The new building is thoroughly equipped with all modern appliances,” said Mr. Moughton, “and in my opinion is one of the ranking colored schools in the state and something that the educators of Seminole county can be proud of.”
The building is of brick and hollow tile construction and has the characteristic stucco finish found on new Florida schools.
One of the features of the negro academy is the auditorium which has a seating capacity of over 500.
A large library, ______ing room, principal’s office, _______ eight classrooms complete the interior arrangements of the building.
The County Board of Public Instruction recently passed favorably upon the acceptance of the building following an inspection of it last Tuesday afternoon.
The board of trustees are expected to pass upon the new school within a few days, and with their approval it will take its place as another link in Seminole county’s chain of schools.
