Brother Bob Holly of the Sanford Herald is bemoaning the fact ____ overtook him in the primary and that helped to encompass his defeat.
It was noised about that he was a Catholic, and our good brother de- nounced it as “dirty politics”. If we shall never be called anything worse than a Catholic we shall be very grateful. We are not one, but sometimes wished that we possessed the implicit faith that would fit us to be one. We regard it as a serene and restful religion. –Ocala Banner.
RESPONSE: It was not the name that obtained our goat but the fact that anyone would be low down enough to work such a trick on the morning of election. Because we have always called for a square deal for Catholics and Protestants alike, we were classed with the Catholics. When politics and religion are mixed it makes a dirty mess but some people seem to want this mixture so we are out of the running for all time.
