St. James Catholic Cathedral Church
St. James Catholic Church was founded in 1881, but the church building was not completed until 1891, under Father Joseph J. Creed. The church also had a school, St. Joseph's Academy, built in 1889. The school site is now where the downtown post office is located. In 1952, the church was rebuilt into what the church is today.
One of the last weddings that was held at the old St. James Catholic Cathedral before it was rebuilt was the wedding of Andy Serros, one of the founders of Orlando Remembered, and Helen Gentile on Februrary 7, 1950.
