Subject
St. Cloud, (Fla.)
Description
Postcard depicting a colorized artist's rendition of the St. Cloud Hotel located on New York Avenue. St. Cloud built its first hotel named for the town in 1909 as a two-story structure using materials from the Disston Sugar Mill which previously occupied the land. In December of the same year, it was destroyed in a fire. The hotel was rebuilt with stone as opposed to wood shortly after the fire and was expanded to three floors instead of two. The original rebuilt hotel included wrap-around verandas, but by 1927 the verandas were removed, as can be seen in this photo.
