Description

Portrait of Francis D. Jordan (ca. 1918- 1945). Francis was born in New York on September 15th, 1918. He eventually moved to Florida sometime after 1930, where he married his wife, Elise Barfield. Francis D. Jordan was a Private in the United States military during World War II. Francis enlisted in the army on July 11, 1944 out of Camp Blanding, Florida. He was apart of the 274th infantry regiment and the 70th infantry division. Francis was killed in action on February 14, 1945, during his service in France, and is currently buried in the Epinal American Cemetery. After his death, Francis was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman badge, the American Campaign medal, and the World War II Victory medal.
