By 1940, he was residing in Jacksonville, Florida. Pvt. Brantley served in the 180th Infantry Regiment of the 45th Infantry Division during World War II. He was Killed in Action (KIA) and is buried at Epinal American Cemetery and Memorial in Dinozé, France.
