Description
A color photograph of Sumner Hutcheson III at the Unveiling of the Mary McLeod Bethune Statue at the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. on July 13th, 2022. The statue, created by Nilda Comas, is made of Italian Carrara marble and was given to the National Statuary Hall Collection by Florida in 2022. Bethune is the first African American represented in the National Statuary Hall Collection. The statue replaced Confederate General Edmund Kirby Smith's statue.
