Description
A copy of an original typewritten letter that was written by Sergeant Grenade after the death of Charles Richard Beall in the Vietnam War on March 6, 1968. The letter details the events of the mission where Beall was killed. It was addressed to Richard’s father, Jesse Beall, and personally handed to him. Richard was a paratrooper in the Vietnam War, and he was the only soldier from DeBary who lost his life in that war. He enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 19 in 1966. In 1995, a road in DeBary was named after him, located off Highway 17-92. The letter contains offensive terms for Vietnamese people.
