Description

A monument commemorating soldiers from the Jacksonville, Florida area who were killed during World War II. Included among the men listed is Solomon Sturdivant. PFC Solomon Sturdivant was born to James and Mary Sturdivant on April 25, 1915 in Wytheville, Virginia. He was drafted by the US Army on December 29, 1942. During World War II, he served as a member of the 231st AAA Searchlight Battalion. He was killed March 5, 1945. He is now buried at the Epinal American Cemetery and Memorial in Dinozé, France. He is one of 85 Florida residents interned at Epinal.
