Gambrell, Jr. The letter is itself an invite for Dr. Gambrel to attend a Black Awareness Week event thrown on by the Black Student Union from April 7-14th 1975.
The BSU (Black Student Union) was founded on 28 October 1969 and has been spreading a message of diversity and awareness ever since. The BSU’s purpose is to serve as the official voice for the black community on campus.

The Black Student Union of Florida Technological University cordially invites you to attend a Black Awareness Week, April 7 – 14, 1975. The theme for the week is “Awareness and Understanding through Appreciation.”
NIKKI GIOVANNI and THE RAMSEY LEWIS TRIO will highlight a week of activities which will include an African Jazz Concert; the movie, “From Montgomery to Memphis”; a drama production, “The Gingham Dog”: and the formal introduction of prospective undergraduate chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
Enclosed is a calendar of events for the Black Awareness Week. We look forward to seeing you.
