Description

The draft registration card for Claude Haskell Maddox, Sr. (b. 1895), who enlisted in the U.S. military during World War I. According to the registration card, Maddox was born on May 29, 1895, and was residing in Munson, Florida. Maddox later married Nita P. Maddox and had three children: Private James Robert Maddox (1924-1944), William Maddox, and Claude Haskell Maddox, Jr. I 1930, the Maddox family was residing in Columbia, South Carolina, but migrated to Tallahassee sometime before 1940. Maddox's oldest son, Pvt. James Maddox served in the U.S. Army's 15th Infantry Regiment of the 3rd Infantry Division during World War II and was Killed in Action (KIA) on October 9, 1944 and subsequently buried at the Epinal American Cemetery and Memorial in Dinozé, France.
