A Shared Future
Together, the Quilt and the Proclamation embody Sanford’s dual commitment to remember and repair – to honor what was lost and to move forward with intention. Under the leadership of mayor Art Woodruff and city manager Norton Bonaparte, Jr., the Quilt and the Proclamation serve as lasting public symbols of the city’s courage to confront its past and its compassion to build a future where every person belongs.
The Goldsboro Commemorative Quilt Project invites all who see it to reflect on how hope can emerge from pain, how memory can become healing, and how a city can be woven together again – one story, one stitch, one act of reconciliation at a time.
