Orlando Ministerial Association Minutes of Monthly Meeting

First Unitarian Church of Orlando

Minutes of a monthly meeting of the Orlando Ministerial Association. The meeting was held on February 5, 1959, at the Y.M.C.A. in Orlando, Florida. Secretary John. C. Fuller announced that a special offer was available to clergymen for Time magazine and that tickets were on sale for the annual Florida Council on Human Relations dinner. The committee appointed to confront the discrimination shown by the United Appeal was asked to submit their resolution to the rest of the members as soon as possible. Pat Pinkerton of the Orlando Sentinel was present to discuss the newspaper's policy of rejecting news and advertisements from African-American churches. Pinkerton urged the ministers of those churches to submit their news and advertisements early in the week directly in care of her. It was decided that the next meeting would include a panel discussion concerning "Religion in the Public Schools".
