A U.S. Army portrait of Harold V. Lucas Jr. in uniform. A handwritten inscription on the photograph reads "To Dad from Harold 53," indicating that Lucas sent the photograph to his father, Harold V. Lucas Sr., in 1953. Bethune-Cookman University states that Lucas entered Army basic training at Camp Gordon, Georgia, in October 1953. The photographer and exact location of the portrait have not been identified.
