Description
A postcard depicting the Sarasota Trailer Park's recreation center in Sarasota, Florida. To the right of the postcard is the Trailer City Headquarters, which housed a grocery store and a post office substation. The trailer park was founded in the 1920s on land donated to the City of Sarasota by Calvin Payne. In the 1980s, there was public controversy regarding the misuse of the land because it had been deeded specifically for public park space. In 2007, the land was reopened as a public park.
