Description
List of latitude and longitude coordinates for the Sanford and Indian River Railroad. The Sanford and Indian River Railroad was built in 1886 by the South Florida Railroad. The line covered nineteen miles between Sanford and Oviedo and was used by growers to ship goods. The railroad began in downtown Sanford and ran southeast direction toward the intersection of State Roads 434 and 426. It then turns East along the southern shore of Lake Jessup and ends in Oviedo. The railroad did have a spur line into the Black Hammock that started at Yongel's Shingle. A biking trail known as the Cross Seminole Trail now spans the length of the old railroad.
