Education in the Celery City
Education has always been an important part of Sanford's development. J.C. Ensminger's daugher, Carrie attended classes at the Little Red Schoolhouse in 1893, and later would become an instructor at the Sanford Grammar school. Clara L. Guild, a member of the first graduating class at Rollins College and a prominent Sanford educator also served as a teacher and administrator at Sanford Grammar. An Ensminer photograph taken in the mid 1900s depicts a scene from recess at the Sanford Grammar School.
