Bank of Winter Garden

The Bank of Winter Garden, founded in 1908 by Director and Vice President James L. Dillard, somehow survived the 1912 fire, despite the fact that Strozier Merchandise (seen on the left) and the Orange Hotel (on the right) were both destroyed. After the fire, Strozier reestablished his store in a brick building constructed on the same site. The Bank of Winter Garden closed during the Wall Street Crash of 1929, and the building, enlarged with the addition of a second floor and expanded west wall, became a department store and later, a drug store and professional offices. The building was destroyed by a fire in 1960. Standing in the door of the bank is G.T. Smith, Bank Cashier.
