Business District

This view, over the Winter Garden business district from the water tower, looks east along the Tavares and Gulf tracks over the Winter Garden business district. The steeple of the frame First Baptist Church (1896) can be seen in the distance on the left. The brick South Apopka Supply Company, the adjacent Bray Livery Stable, and the roof of the Tavares and Gulf depot can be seen on the left. In the center of the photograph is the two-story building at 49 South Main Street, today’s Winter Garden Feed Store. The building lost its second story in a 1920s fire. At the far right is the block building that housed the Gem Supermarket, today’s West Orange Glass. In the distance on the right is J. L. Dillard’s packing house on South Dillard Street, alongside the tracks.
